Torajaland Day 1
After an uneventful flight to Makassar in South Sulawesi and an afternoon in bed I was greeted by my german-speaking guide and the driver yesterday morning at my hotel and then we were off towards Torajaland. The drive was supposed to be 8 hours but it took us much longer so it was a really long day. I enjoyed the landscape and the driver told me lots of tales and myths from Torayaland. Good thing I brought a notebook and wrote down a lot of it. Towards 5 PM it started to get dark so I didn’t see any more of the landscape we were passing through. Arrived at the hotel I was shown into my room and when I closed the door my only thought was ‚I DON’T WANT THAT ROOM!‘ I am not really choosy but it was next to the restaurant (-> noisy) and no windows. I hated it at first sight. When I asked for a different room I was told I could switch only today. Having checked the voucher again today I know that this was not the room-group I was booked into. Well, it was worth a try for them I guess… Find below some of the pictures from the trip. There are traditional houses that look very different from the ones in Toraya-land.
Ein sehr interessanter erster Eindruck.
