Niue 6

One afternoon we decided to go back to the East Coast. When we did our day tour we were too tired to stop everywhere but we knew we could to back. There is a sculpture park where you find a lot of sculpture made of things found on the beaches. Can you guess how many flip flops were used in sculptures? 😉 We went to historical site but there was not really anything to see. We only had a big sign that explained the significance and told the story of Lafuoli who comitted suicide on that place.
After that we stopped at a trail that leads to a canyon at the coast. The sign said that it was treacherous (see below) and difficult so I stayed in the car. Luckily I had towels to cover me up because the moscitos were eating me alive and I had not brought any anti-moscito spray. I had company of chicken and roosters which are always all over the island (roosters are the alarm clock starting around 4:30 AM 😀 ). 😉
Then we went to another spot where there is another canyon. The trail is shorter but I didn’t even know it was there. I was fascinated by the waves. It was very windy that day and the waves would crash on the rocks. But then part of the wave would go out again to crash into the incoming wave. That was a phantastic show. And in the evening we had milky way-clear sky again. The rest of the pics are random from the next day I think. Generally the pics below are not entirely in chronological order.
