Foto trip to South Africa and Botswana – how it all started

A year ago I got a mail from Raik with whom I had already been to the Lofoten in Norway and Madeira. He proposed a foto-trip to South Africa and when I read his proposal (on the website PhotoTours4U.com ) I was immediately intrigued. Going on a safari had been on my bucket list for a while and doing that with some people I already knew was a bonus. So I didn’t have to think long and hard about it and registered. In January we started the first discussions in the group (we were 7) and the weeks before we left we had a lot of fun. I knew already that we would be a great group and we actually were.

Raik has been in South Africa several times already and he had set up a special route. First we went to Kruger National Park, then Muweti Bush Lodge in Grietje Reserve. After one night in Polokwane (just to have a break during the long drive up there) we went over the border to Botswana. We stayed at the Serolo Camp in the Tuli Wilderness. From there we went to Bontle Rest Camp in Marakele National Park and then back to Johannesburg to fly home. It sounds tiring – and it was. From what I heard we had more than 2000 km. But without already telling too much already: we had a phantastic time. Here is a map of our route:
