Iceland 26 – day 13
We slept in the next morning. 😉 Then we went towards the coast to where the hotel is that had cancelled on us. We were really glad that they did that. The ocean was still very angry and with the northern lights the night before we would have had problems with taking pics as the wind was too strong. But what was worse… that hotel might have had damage from a thunderstorm but the damage that we saw was never only electronics. The hotel was a construction site and either it had not been finished yet or they were still adding rooms and new parts to the building (first pic below). We wouldn’t have been happy there. So it worked out well for us in the end 😉
After that we wanted to drive to a waterfall which was about 45 minutes away from our cabins. On the way we saw a sign to a church and of course we had to follow. 😉 It had an interesting cemetery. While I was already back in the car I thought I could catch some Pokemons while I was waiting. When I opened the game I got a weather warning. I checked the icelandic weather apps and noticed that we hadn’t seen the warning as it hadn’t been there earlier in the day. Sooooo – plan B. We didn’t have one so we made up a new one. No waterfall but we would stay closer in the area. We somehow took a wrong turn and stopped to take pics. I sent up the drone and saw only later that I have pics from the Urridafoss which is a nice waterfall. We went to Urridafoss then. I have been there before but it was not that frozen (I was there in August 😀 ) From there we drove along side roads again but towards the ocean. We saw lots of horses, churches, some lost places… guess this is Iceland off the beaten paths. Something that we both enjoy very much. We drove along a frozen lake und finally through a sheep farm where the sheep were next to the road – doing nothing. Just chew. 😀 It was an interesting sightseeing tour.
