Norway 2024 Finnsnes 3
Aaand…. again getting up early to leave early. This time we drove over the bridge in Finnsnes to Senja but after the bridge this time we went right – not left like the day before. We wanted to go to Ersfjord and Tungeneset. Even if we knew that Tungeneset was closed because it had been destroyed by a nasty wave. We kept driving in snow, grey skies… like the days before. At some point we came to a camping lot and tried the toilet. Closed. So… let’s go to the golden toilet at Ersfjord. It was a nice toilet – but closed as well. I really don’t understand why in Senja don’t see that there are still tourists in winter. 🙁 But I sent my drone up there even though it was very windy. I thought that it would tell me it was too windy but it didn’t. Anyway, I didn’t do too much with it as I didn’t trust the weather but I still have some nice pics from there. From Ersfjord we continued to Tungeneset which is supposed to be a nice viewpoint. And there I saw at least 3 other people with drones. I flew it in the parking lot where nobody was walking around in order to not endanger anyone. Later I went where all tourists were and where did they fly their drones? In the middle of all the people. You can’t fix stupid. 🙁
Tungeneset is closed until spring and there was a sign for dangerous waves and the way was closed off. Where did tourists go? I probably don’t have to tell you.
From Tungeneset we continued on the road to get back on the highway we had driven on the day before. One more stop was at Bergsbotn where there is a view point up a hill overlooking the fjord. We stayed there a bit and then started to go back to Finnsnes.
In the evening we went out again to check for northern lights. The problem is: in Senja there are nearly no places that are dark where you can park your car. So we drove around and didn’t see any northern lights and whereever we stopped there was mostly too much light. That was a bit frustrating. Finally we found a place that was OK but there were no northern lights. So we finally went back to our appartment again. Packing… 😉
Btw… what we saw along the way for all these days was that a lot of homes are illuminated with christmas lights or normal light. I had noticed in the past that even at 3 AM lights in the house are always on and my friend Marianne had told me that this is because the trolls are stealing kids and their parents leave on the lights so the kids find their way home. I like that tale. 🙂
