Greenland 2024 -5
The next morning the others went whale watching but I decided to stay in the camp. I had gotten too wet the other time and I needed all my clothes to be dry on the way to the airport. Since Laura and I were to go with a smaller boat without roof I expected it to be very cold. 😉 I spent the morning to empty all my batteries for the drone. 😀 Laura and I were ready to go when the boat came and it was not as bad as I had thought. We were not too far away from the airport when our boat started to fill with water. I was in Titanic-mode but Lizzie from the camp worked on getting it out of the boat. 😉 A little while later the captain stopped to call his father who was supposed to get the rest of the group and that was when I noticed the humpback whale. So we did have our whale after all. 😉
At the airport we checked in and waited for the rest of the group. There was a lot of hassle because each piece of luggage was not supposed to weigh more than 20 kg so a lot of people had to repack. And the already payed additional luggage in some cases was not in the computer and that was nothing new as the same thing happened to us 5 years ago. When the flight from Iceland had arrived and we were in the duty free there was underwear for men with an icebear on it that made us all laugh. 😉 The lady from the check in did the boarding… she had a list with all our names and marked us all. We didn’t know that this would result in a delay of our flight. Because boarding was completed and we were ready to go but the lady from the check in continued to discuss with the flight attendants. I heard bits and pieces from the conversation and the reason seemed to have been that on the boarding list someone was boarded who was not on the plane. Seat was empty. After half an hour we finally seemed to have gotten the permission to finally go. But interestingly the flight attendents came to each row and we had to write our names on some paper they had available. Was like a list of attendance… 😀 that can happen when boarding is manual. 😉
When we arrived in Keflavik it was raining VERY hard. I had intended to take a taxi as it was late and the three swiss guys from our group had the same idea so we shared a taxi to Reykjavik. Late arrival at the same hotel I had been in the week before….
