Tromso/Sortland Day 1

For November I had booked another trip to Tromso but wanted to see something else as well so I had decided to fly over to Sortland on Vesteralen for a few days. The issue with that… I will tell about that later. I was really looking forward to that trip to see more northern lights. Two days before my flight I got a mail from Scandinavian Airlines that my flight was 20 minutes late. I was a bit surprised and didn’t understand why I got that mail. I checked my ticket and it said November 1, checked my boarding pass and that said October 30. Since I didn’t understand what was going on I called Scandinavian Airlines and bottom line is that they had sent me a mail informing me about a change in schedule but I had not seen that they had moved the flight 2 days ahead. Usually these mails were about one of the flights being moved by 5 or 10 minutes. Since the flight was already in the air I couldn’t cancel or change it any more and I had to buy a new ticket. Which is something I was not so happy about. They should have informed me in the change-mail that the first flight had been cancelled and should have proposed a different route. Anyway… I had to fly to Tromso via Copenhagen and Oslo. Which in the end was really cool because on both flights to Copenhagen and Oslo I had no neighbour and could move over to the window and it was phantastic photo weather. I saw 4 countries that day: Germany, Copenhagen/Denmark with the bridge to Malmoe/Sweden and then Norway… it was a long day but uneventful. In Tromso I found that the airport has opened the new parts that were built over the past year and that makes the airport bigger with longer ways to walk. And they have two luggage belts – the info where my suitcase would arrive was always wrong. 😀 Took a taxi to my hotel, found that again I had a room with view to the Ice Cathedral and went to sleep early. I had only two nights in Tromso before I flew over to Sortland… The next day sun was shining and I went around to take some pics with Tromso in the snow. It was very early for snow but it was fine with me. 🙂
