Day 2 and northern lights part 2
The second day the rest of the group went out with the boat to dive in the fjord and I decided to stay back and explore Tasiilaq a bit more. The streets are either steep up- or downhill. If you want to go from one end to the other it is basically a W, down, up, down, up… After a few days there my legs started to get used to it. 😉 I went up the hill behind our house to look for geocaces and came up in a beautiful spot on top where you had either the view over Tasiilaq or on the other side there was a lake that must fall somewhere into the ocean. Instead of benches there were sleds up there where you could sit down to enjoy the view. I took pics and told Galice that I had found the spot for that evenings Aurora-fotosession. So after dinner we took Kim with us who had only seen the northern lights once but hadn’t been too impressed. It is important to know that what you see on pics is not really what you see with the eye. You do see them but not with those bright colours. After our enthusiastic reports from the evening before she decided to give it another try. We had roughly arrived up there when another great show started. We didn’t know really where to look because the Lady was dancing all around us. Unfortunately I decided to use a different camera for the pics that evening and that was a bad idea because my dream pic (the one you see below with the big pink/blue in the middle) is not in focus. 🙁 Won’t make that mistake again. But we had fun. Galice and I had one our of ‚This is the last one, then we go – wow, look over there!!!‘ 😀 We ran from one side to the other taking pics of the lady over the Fjord and Tasiilaq and then over the fjord again. When we finally left we made it to our house but then we set up the tripods again to take some more pics… 😀 Thanks, Galice, I was glad I had another Aurora-crazy like me in the group.
Hm, not sure why the last two pics have that shadow to the right… 🙁
